Born in Manchester, England, John Noble Barlow became a United States citizen in 1887. He enrolled at the Académie Julian in Paris, and studied for two years under Jules Joseph Lefebvre, Paul Delance and Benjamin Jean – Joseph Constant.Barlow lived for a time in Rhode Island and was a member of the Providence Art Club. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago. He received medals at both the 1899 Paris Salon and the 1900 Paris Exposition. Barlow eventually returned to England and settled in Cornwall until his death in 1917. |
